La Festa Mille Mille Miglia 2021

Report

【Day4 & Awarding Ceremony】27 Sep 2021

As Expected, Defending Champion Mr. and Mrs. Takemoto Team Wins Second Straight Title

Day four, the final day of the event, started later than the previous days at 8:45 am as today’s travel distance was shorter. Under the clear autumn sky, the entrants set off from the hotel to their first destination, Naritasan Shinshoji Temple.

When driving through Omote Sando leading to Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, we saw restaurant or cafe owners waving to us at the door while preparing for the day. The entrants received a stamp at the square in front of the gate, then left for the next point, Shibayama Niouson Kannonkyouzi Temple.

At Shibayama Nioson Kannonkyoji Temple, we were welcomed by the annual Japanese drum performance. After receiving a stamp, the entrants drove along the coast and headed to the final competition venue, the MOBARA TWIN CIRCUIT.

The entrants were so concentrating on the PC competition held in the circuit because it was the final competition of the four days. The competition here will determine the final results. They finished the final competition and left the venue with a radiant expression.

After having lunch at the Okura Akademia Park Hotel in Kisarazu City, the entrants finally headed to the finish line. Although this year’s finish line was changed from the usual Meiji Jingu Shrine to Umihotaru, there was no confusion and the entrants were able to get there. The strong wind was blowing from the sea, but still, they crossed the finish line with a smile, welcomed by Kisarazu City Mayor Watanabe waving the finish flag.

It didn’t rain during the rally on the final day, so we all enjoyed a pleasant drive in the mild autumn weather.

A farewell dinner and an awards ceremony were held at the hotel in the evening. Everyone enjoyed the ceremony while having delicious dinner.

The third place was the No. 11 of Sato Team. Although the seasoned team has entered this event many times, they had never been involved in the battle for the title before, but this time they successfully took third place.

The second place went to the No. 9 of Mr. and Mrs. Sato. They are the parents of third place winner Sato Team so the Sato family won two prizes. This pair is also a seasoned team. They had been taking a break from participating in rally for a while, and this was their first top-three finish in a long time.

The winner of the La Festa Mille Miglia 2021 went to the No. 3 of Mr. and Mrs. Takemoto. The defending champion never gave up the lead for the four days and dominated the whole rally to win the title. As expected, they were strong as usual and performed well as a champion.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the La Festa Mille Miglia 2021 was held differently from previous years including the different start and finish locations and fewer points to stop by. Still, local people cheered for us and waved to us from the street or at each point, and that was really encouraging. I earnestly hope that the La Festa Mille Miglia will be back to normal next year.
